Before being established as a Department, Industrial Engineering was one of the concentrations of expertise in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Then on September 3, 2002, based on the Decree of the Directorate General of Higher Education Number: 1874/D/T/2002, Industrial Engineering at Hasanuddin University was officially established as a Study Program whose position was still under the Department of Mechanical Engineering. On August 3, 2017, the Industrial Engineering Study Program was no longer under the Department of Mechanical Engineering and officially became a new Department which was directly under the auspices of the Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University.
