Gowa, February 22, 2025 – The Industrial Engineering Department of Hasanuddin University successfully held a guest lecture with the theme “Natural Wealth, Industrial Limitations” on February 21, 2025. This event presented the main speaker Ziaul Haq Nawawi, M.Si, Founder of the Econatural Society Indonesia and Secretary General of ISPIKANI South Sulawesi for the 2024-2027 period.
This activity aims to provide students with insight into the potential of Indonesia’s abundant natural resources, but still faces various challenges in industrial management. In his presentation, Ziaul Haq Nawawi highlighted the importance of balance between resource exploitation and environmental sustainability. He also emphasized that strengthening natural resource-based industries requires appropriate policies and technological innovation to increase competitiveness.

“Indonesia has extraordinary natural wealth, but limitations in the industrial sector are a major challenge. Therefore, we must think innovatively to utilize this potential to the maximum without damaging the ecosystem,” said Ziaul Haq Nawawi in the discussion session.
This guest lecture received high enthusiasm from the participants, consisting of students, lecturers, and industry practitioners. The question and answer session was interactive, where students had the opportunity to discuss directly with the speakers about various issues related to natural resources and industrialization in Indonesia.
The Head of the Industrial Engineering Department, Unhas, Ir. Kifayah Amar, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU., in his speech appreciated the presence of Ziaul Haq Nawawi and hoped that this guest lecture could open students’ insights into the challenges and opportunities in sustainable natural resource management.
“We hope that this guest lecture can inspire students to contribute to the development of sustainable natural resource-based industries,” said Mrs. Kifayah Amar.

With this activity, it is hoped that students will increasingly understand the importance of their role in maintaining a balance between resource exploitation and responsible industrial development. The event was closed with a group photo session.
