Four students from the Department of Industrial Engineering, batch 2021, participated in the prestigious program “Science, Culture, and Beyond: Summer at Universiti Sains Malaysia” which will run from March to August 2025. This program is part of a student exchange initiative and international collaboration between Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and partner universities from various countries, including Indonesia.
Annisa Nursyahbani, Mardin, Afdhal, and Munadi are the student representatives who have been selected to undergo academic experiences as well as cultural exploration at USM’s main campus located in Pulau Pinang, Malaysia. For more than five months, they not only attended lectures and academic projects focused on technology, innovation, and sustainability, but also actively participated in various cultural activities, industrial visits, and cross-cultural discussions with students from all over the world.
“This program opened our horizons not only in academic aspects, but also enriched our understanding of Malaysian culture and the dynamics of international life on campus,” said Annisa, one of the program participants.
This activity is proof of the Department of Industrial Engineering’s commitment to supporting the development of students’ global competencies through international experiences. Their active participation in the Summer Program at USM is expected to inspire other students to continue to seek opportunities for cross-border learning and expand their global network.
More than just a summer program, this activity provides a transformative experience that combines science, culture, and international networking — truly representing the spirit of the theme “Science, Culture, and Beyond.”
